Hello from the shuttle bus from the Main Press Center to the Gangneung Media Village! I’ve wasted no time since landing yesterday around 5:30 a.m. local time. After we took the train to Gangneung, dropped our bags at our rooms and got our credentials, I managed to meet with an athlete’s family around 3:30 p.m. Not without getting lost, though! The shuttle system has been tricky to figure out and everything is very spread out. I’m sure I’ll get it down by the time we leave, of course.
This morning, I went to women’s singles luge training to talk to Summer Britcher, an American luger I’m covering for philly.com. Again, it was hard to figure out how to get there, but I made it on time. It’s so cold and windy by the track in the mountains (and pretty much everywhere else). I’ve been told that it’s adding to the difficulty of the course. I’m excited to watch the first two heats of her event tomorrow night! I filed the story on her this evening and I’m excited to see it go online.
After practice, I did two more interviews for stories I’m working on. I’ll tell you more about them once I file them. I have one more interview tonight on the phone with an athlete’s parent that is still in the US. As you can tell, it’s been a busy day.
Most importantly, let’s talk about food. I had a red bean bun for the first time in the airport and it was great. I need to find more of those. It’s really hard to find time to eat with everything going on, so I’ve been subsisting on a lot of snacks throughout the day. I don’t think I can function like this for much longer. I’m going to need to figure out how to be better at this!
