Sports don’t happen in the classroom, so the Medill Sports program gives students opportunities to travel to destinations across the country and meet with sports media professionals in a variety of industries.

From an in-depth look at how news organizations create their content to behind-the-scenes tours of a variety of professional sports teams, these trips allow students to get a first-hand look at the careers and professions they hope to pursue.

Oftentimes, these trips are paired with networking opportunities with Medill alumni.

All access at ESPN headquarters meant students watched a taping of Mike & Mike, toured the SportsCenter studio and met with a wide variety of alumni.

Students toured Golf Channel, visited the Orlando Sentinel and went behind the scenes at the Citrus Bowl, Amway Center and ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Washington, D.C.

Highlights of the trip included watching the tapings of Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption, as well as meetings at the Washington Post.

College GameDay

Students spoke with ESPN College Gameday host Chris Fowler, toured the network's production trucks and spent time on the Gameday set.
